Penn E&R celebrated the true meaning of Christmas early this year! Employees at Penn E&R’s Hatfield office participated in a local Giving Tree program, purchasing more than 30 gifts for families in the community.
The Giving Tree program, organized by parishioners at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Hatfield, is a 30-year-old tradition. The church’s Outreach Group, dedicated to assisting less fortunate families in the community, writes gift ideas on paper angels which are then hung in the church’s community room. During the first week of Advent, churchgoers may take the paper angels and purchase the noted gifts. The wrapped presents are due back to the church by the third week in Advent where they are sorted and distributed to the designated families by the Outreach Group. The names of both the donors and recipients remain confidential.
Nearly two dozen Penn E&R employees opted to participate in the program. Penn E&R plans to participate in the program again next year.
