Oil and Gas

Penn E&R has current staff professionals that have worked in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years, including in Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, Wyoming, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky, New York, and Pennsylvania.  We have provided consulting services to major petroleum producers such as Texaco, Exxon, Shell, Chevron, Chesapeake, and others.  Services provided to these major producers include: reservoir evaluation, geophysical evaluation, water sourcing, freshwater evaluation, geologic formation consultation, permitting, well site safety, and environmental compliance.

As unconventional drilling and production methods became commercially applicable and the modern shale gas phenomenon was born in Pennsylvania, Penn E&R was the first organization to provide consulting services to the industry.  In fact, we were instrumental in the evolution of the Erosion and Sediment Control General Permit process in Pennsylvania and submitted the first permit for approval under the Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Law.  At the publication of this website, Penn E&R has submitted more permit applications to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for approval under the oil and gas program than any other consulting organization in the state.

Our team of experienced personnel can provide oil and gas development companies with a broad range of technical services, including:

  • Well pad and access road siting
  • Permitting and design
  • Fatal flaw evaluation
  • Water withdrawal permitting and design
  • Impoundment design and permitting
  • Pipeline permitting
  • Erosion and sediment control designs and installations
  • Wetland delineation
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Incident response and closeout
  • Environmental consulting
  • Safety auditing and training
  • Residential well monitoring and residential ground water protection
  • Methane migration monitoring and mitigation
  • Comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety services

Our staff has experienced all aspects of conventional and unconventional natural gas exploration, from land valuation and acquisition through well completion and production.  We understand the fluid nature of the petroleum and natural gas industry and the need for immediate responsive services.  We work closely with regulators to ensure our clients’ goals are met while maintaining compliance with industry rules and regulations.
