UPDATE: On Wednesday, April 15, members of the Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC) donated prepared meals to doctors, nurses and staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, Wayne County. The meals were prepared and packaged by local small businesses Sunrise Market, Market 13 and Waymart Deli.
This donation was made possible through a contribution Penn E&R made to the MSC, alongside other member sponsors (listed below), and provided approximately 2,370 meals to health care workers on the front lines at Wayne Memorial, UPMC Williamsport and Washington Health System Green and Washington hospitals.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the Commonwealth and country, Penn E&R made a donation to provide meals to health care professionals working long hours on the front lines.
Penn E&R’s Mansfield and Pittsburgh regional offices worked with the Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC), an organization dedicated to the safe and responsible development of shale gas, to provide a monetary donation to help people in need. The MSC, which often works often with its member companies and oil and gas partners to help the community, coordinated with hospitals and health care organizations across Washington, Greene and Lycoming counties to provide assistance during COVID-19. Penn E&R, along with other MSC members including Alta Resources, Cabot Oil & Gas, Chevron, Greylock Energy, Olympus Energy, Range Resources and Southwestern Energy, provided the donation to show appreciation for all health care professionals’ hard work and dedication during this difficult time.
Pizza is served to doctors, nurses, first responders and staff at Washington Health System in Washington and Greene counties on April 7.
“We are extremely grateful to the Marcellus Shale Coalition and their members as well as the industry for their support of our staff at Washington Health System (both Washington and Greene hospitals),” said Sara Schumacher, Executive Director of the Washington Health System Foundation. “Our team is working tirelessly each day as we combat COVID-19 and this crisis. Your act of kindness is certainly felt by our staff and is deeply appreciated.”
A second lunch was provided to staff at the Washington Health System Greene on April 11.
Pre-packaged meals are served to staff at UPMC Williamsport in Lycoming County on April 8.
Penn E&R’s donation also supports the local food service industry, which has taken a hard financial hit as a result of COVID-19. Each meal is being prepared by a local restaurant offering takeout service. All Pennsylvania restaurants were ordered by Governor Tom Wolf in mid-March to close their dine-in facilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
